Why photographers and film crews lease here

Hourly studios in Philadelphia run out of daylight, out of storage and out of time. A studio of your own means backdrops stay hung, lighting stays rigged, the edit bay is down the hall from the set, and clients, crew and talent are buzzed in from your phone through the ButterflyMX video intercom at any hour.

The original factory window openings were kept, so most studios get real daylight on at least one side. Several first-floor Tioga studios face north, the soft, even light photographers ask for, and corner units get light from two or three directions. Window direction is listed for every studio in the table below.

Ceilings run 17 to 20 feet, enough for a full-height seamless, an overhead grid, a green screen on a full frame or a jib inside. Two truck loading docks serve the complex, select first-floor studios have roll-up gate access straight into the unit, and corridors were built for mill machinery, so flats, dollies and road cases move without trouble. The heavy-timber, exposed-brick interiors photograph well on their own, and the gated courtyard with painted mill walls works as a second location.

What is included

Every studio is private and individually locked with 24/7 access every day of the year. Restrooms are renovated on every floor and there is secure indoor bike parking. Studios are leased empty so you set up the space around your own work. Photographers, film crews, fine artists and small brands who need product shots are already among the 130+ tenants. Electrical has been updated across the complex; bring your lighting load to the tour and we will confirm what the specific studio supports.

Leases are annual with a credit check and renters insurance. There is no month-to-month or hourly option.

Studios that suit this use

Every studio currently open at both campuses, in unit order. Rents are monthly on an annual lease. North-facing and corner units are the ones photographers usually ask to see first.
